On October 20, 2012  chefs and cooks around the world celebrate their professional holiday.

International Chefs Day was established in 2004 by the initiative of the World Association of Cooks Societies (WACS) which counts over eight million chefs from all over the world as members.

Chefs is one of the most ancient in the world. Who was a first coined cook no one really knows- people used to cook millions of years ago.

Chefs is one of the most popular profession in the world and most needle one. Today Au Pairs and Host Families have a chance to cook with the Chef Debbie from Debbie’s Home Cooking.

Our guest blogger Debbie will teach how to cook her favorite recipe CHICKEN PARMESAN ON THE LIGHTER SIDE

This Chicken Parmesan recipe has great taste but fewer calories than the usual recipe.

Ingredients

TOMATO SAUCE:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ cup chopped onion,
  • 3 cloves of  minced garlic
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes,
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil

CHICKEN:

  • Cooking spray
  • 4 thin chicken cutlets
  • 2 large egg whites
  • About ½ cup of dry Italian bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 to 5 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup part-skim shredded mozzarella cheese
