November is National Adoption Month.

There are millions of orphaned children who are waiting to be adopted throughout the world. There is currently a tremendous need for foster and adoptive families.

National Adoption Month helps raise awareness about the thousands of children and youth nationwide in the child-welfare system who are awaiting permanent families.

Celebrating adoption began in 1976 when the Massachusetts governor announced an Adoption Week in the state. The president expanded it to the entire month of November and now, every November, a Presidential Proclamation launches activities and celebrations to help build awareness of adoption throughout the nation.

During National Adoption Month, community groups and  organizations host events and activities that  draw attention to the children in foster care who are awaiting permanent families and provide a forum for positive adoption stories to be shared.

In addition to the month of awareness building, there is a specific Adoption Day on November 19th.

I am blessed to have many adoptive families in my cluster. Adoption always was in my heart. I started volunteering and helping orphans from the time when I visited a Ukrainian orphanage and met kids for the first time. They stole my heart and since then adoption has been a big part of my life. I truly believe that adoption is a win-win situation for the child and the adoptive family.

Many adoptive families choose an Au Pair because of the nature of this amazing program.  Hosting the Au Pair from the children’s birth country will bring a small piece of their culture right to the host family and open the children’s hearts and minds to their heritage. Adoption Services International believes that an “Au Pair for Ukrainian adopted children is a rich and rewarding childcare solution ”Read more
