My lovely hometown in Ukraine.

Hey, It is Mariia again. I hope you read the Ukrainian Au Pair storyFollow my dreams  and about my awesome host family family in the US. Today, I want to tell you about my lovely hometown in Ukraine. I came from Cherkasy, it is a city in Central Ukraine, that has been known since the 13th century, so it’s quite an old place and still you can see a lot of things from the former USSR. My city played a great role in the history of Ukraine.Au Pair Bucks County 1

What reminds me about my city is it is my home sweet home, it is the place when I’m happy, where are all my family and my lovely friends are, and where my cat is.Au Pair Bucks County 4

One of my favorite place in Cherkasy it’s Castle Hill (Hill of Glory). The memorial complex with a monument “Motherland” is standing at the top of the former Castle Hill.Au Pair Bucks County

The view is unbelievable. You can see the beauty of the main river and our main bridge. My city is situated on the Dnipro River, it is huge and beautiful. It is funny but another favorite place of mine in Ukraine is a night club called Manhattan. We even have the bull that is the main symbol of this party place.Au Pair Bucks County 3

The style of people from Cherkasy are so different. People like to dress nice, put on make up  and go to work with happy faces. Compared with Americans, they spend hours to get ready to go to work. Even if you work on the bus, you need to put your eye shadow and your lipstick on! It is funny!Au Pair Bucks County 2Each time when I’m at home it brings a smile to my face. We have so many different restaurants and cafes. Another famous place in Cherkasy is  New York pizza. The food is so yummy.Au Pair Bucks County 5

I love my city! It’s probably not the best place to go in Ukraine but it is so special for me.

Au Pair education experience in the US

Hi, It is Maria, Au Pair from Bucks County, PA. You may read already that I recently joined  the Au Pair program and I always dream to visit NY . My American education experience also relates to NY.
Au Pair program gives the Au Pairs great opportunities to study in a real american  college and explore American culture! I chose to take my first course as two classes in the college with a trip to New York!  I took two Sundays classes at Peirce college in Philadelphia already. The 3rd Sunday will be the final trip to the Big Apple! I  had very lovely time during my classes, met a lot of new friends from all around the world, learned more about a history of New York.Au Pair classes 1

I had fun with my home work and did absolutely great job with my final project about New York Fashion Week!Au Pair classes 4

The classes were a little long. It took long hours but you don’t really pay attention when you have a great time.Au Pair classes 3

We had a lot of interesting activities, lovely lunch time, watched great American shows, found out about a lot of secret places of NY that I will definitely visit them in future!Au Pair classes 2

Our teacher was great! He was joking  and telling us the stories about a real New Yorker’s life style. It was fun! I was happy to feel like a student again.Au Pair classes

Now I’m looking forward to go to many amazing places in NY next Sunday with very lovely company!

P.S. Enjoy your time to be an au pair and it’s never late to learn something new!❤️  Best regards, Mariia from Ukraine.

Visiting New York -my dream came true!

Hi everyone! Its your Ukrainian Au Pair Mariia Bilous. It was a big transition moving from my lovely small town Cherkassy to the US. However, I live now also in a small town Jamison at Bucks County, PA with my awesome host family. Visiting New York has always been my dream.Au Pair from Bucks County 3

As an Au Pair I can travel a lot and I already had the chance to visit this incredible city.  NY is a city of contrasts.Au Pair from Bucks County

What comes to mind when I think of New York? definitely Time square!  This must be the busiest street in America. You can see so many different nationalities, so many different types of people, starting from tourists and ending with celebrities and business people. Au Pair from Bucks County 2

In my eyes, this city is different from any other. All the buildings are so different. Most of them are huge and the styles are so varied. You can see very old buildings with amazing architecture and very modern buildings on just on opposite side of the street.Au Pair from Bucks County 5

You can read the full story New York by the eyes of Ukrainian Au Pair.Au Pair from Bucks County 1

I like New York and  I’m looking forward to seeing this amazing city again! New York it’s definitely the place every one has to visit!

My awesome host family.

Hi everyone! Its your Ukrainian Au Pair Mariia Bilous  and today I would like to share about my host family. If you read Ukrainian Au Pair story and Follow my dreams you may know already that I live in a beautiful part of America – Bucks County, PA, near Philadelphia with my host family. I have an incredible family of an amazing strong woman – my host mom Alla Gerzon, and two cute princesses Mariella and Elianna and a lovely dog with a very beautiful name Baila (it means dance in Spanish).Maria Au Pair from Bucks County

My host mom Alla is like my sister. She is a young and very friendly person, who always helps me to explore American culture, and is always by my side and taught me a lot of new things. Please read the nomination essay about my amazing host family to the Host Family in Excellence Award. Go Au Pair Bucks County 2

My host kids Mariella and Eliana stole my heart! At bedtime, after reading them fairytales, I have to kiss and give them hugs over 10 times, because they are so cute and I love them so very much!

Go Au Pair Bucks County 1

They are very smart and creative girls, and they can speak 2 languages (English and Russian). I always have fun with them!

Go Au Pair Bucks County 3

We like to do a lot of different activities together like swimming, singing, dancing, doing art projects, cooking classes, and telling each other funny stories.

Alla and the kids made me feel like a part of their family, brought happiness into my life, and helped me to explore America and enjoy the cultural exchange with the Au Pair program!  I am very lucky to be a part of the Gerzon family – they’re everything I hoped for.

Follow my dreams

Please read the beginning of my Au Pair adventure.

I finished all my applications and paperwork and became an Au Pair candidate with Go Au Pair. Then it was probably the hardest time because I don’t like to wait! Thanks God, I didn’t wait for that long and after 10 days host families started to contact me and i started to get the interviews on Skype. I worried a lot, read a lot of blogs, watched the videos of another Au Pairs stories.Au Pair from Ukraine 6

I’m very confident person, but by that time I could not help my emotions. I had few interviews with very nice families, it was so funny because some families spoke Russian language, so it was easier for both sides to communicate.

Go Au Pair has a special Mutual Match process which is the best because I can choose my future host family. After 3 weeks I got a few offers and I should choose my future host family.  It was super hard because all of them were very nice and friendly. Then I decided to listen my heart and I  it was the best decision.  I’m so happy and in love with my host family now!Au Pair from Ukraine 7

After few weeks I had to go to American embassy and get my visa.  It’s another hilarious story…lol.  I got J1 Au Pair visa! and in 15 days I came to the USA as an Au Pair with Go Au Pair !!! I’m here so happy and in love with my host family and this beautiful country.

Au Pair from Ukraine 3Oh yeah,Why that French croissants kind of changed my life :1-because if I wasn’t in that place and didn’t find out about this program from Andreev Andrei I wouldn’t be here!Thank you so much for that!Au Pair from Ukraine 1

2-my flights to USA was :Kiev-Paris, Paris-Philadelphia. Again France and yeah I had another couple of croissants in Paris while waiting for my next flight ))

P.S.Never afraid to try something new, always explore, follow your dreams and have some croissants)

Ukrainian Au Pair story.

My story began from a French croissant…Au Pair from Ukraine 3

Hey, it’s me, Ukrainian Au Pair Maria Bilous. My adventure started when I had French croissants with my Ukrainian friend Andrei! You will get the point why a French croissant was so important in my story! Lol… By that time

Last Spring I came back from Turkey – I used to work there for last 3 amazing years. I was about to change something in my life – well completely to change! I was looking for new emotions, new faces, new adventure. I needed to go somewhere and do something new what makes me feel happy! It doesn’t mean I wasn’t happy by that time because my life in Turkey was so colorful – I used to work as part of entertainment in one of the coolest place in this world Liberty hotels Lykia!Au Pair from Ukraine

So my friend and I were telling to each other how our lives are going and what happened for last few years and shared French croissants. Suddenly, he looked on me enjoying the croissant and said,” Maria!I think you should try cultural exchange program Au pair because you like to spend time with kids and you always want to go somewhere and explore some new things!” He said it will be very interesting for me! I came back home and checked google what Au pair program is.

There are a lot of information about the Au Pair program and I really found it very cool. Next morning I visited ”Пять континентов” it’s one of Ukrainian agency by Go Au Pair in Cherkassy and found all the details about it. I am the person who is like I want something I get it!!!So I started to get ready all my documents, reviews and read more about USA and American childcare. Au Pair from Ukraine 5

To be honest,  there were a lot of things  scary for me like: what if I can’t do it? or what if the kids will not like me? or what if it be very lonely there ?or Oh My God! I have to cross not just the countries -I had to cross the continent! Which is fine! We all human too nervous about something important and, especially, if you are a girl. Au Pair from Ukraine 2

Now I’m so proud of myself and happy to be in the USA ! Thank you to the Au Pair program for the opportunity and Go Au Pair for helping me to find my lovely host family! Read the second part of my amazing story.
