Au Pairs educational trips.

One of the great benefits of the Au Pair Program is that Au pairs can travel a lot during their free time, weekends, paid vacation with friends and together with a  host family.

Au Pairs can also travel and earn EDUCATIONAL CREDITS .  This special Au Pair educational trip will combine classroom learning with a tour to the destination studied. The Au Pairs can take classes at Peirce College in Philadelphia during the weekend and then, trips to a favorite destination with Cultural Hi-Ways.

Many former Au Pairs enjoyed the trips with Cultural Hi-Ways and earned the credits. Ophelia, Au Pair from China, wrote about the trip/ classes with Cultural Hi-Ways. Kiah, Au Pair from Australia, wrote about the trip to Washington, DC.

Why do young adults want to become Au Pairs?

Another common question many new host families ask is, “Why do young adults want to become Au Pairs and leave behind their families, friends and sometimes a good job?”

Au Pairs participate in the Au Pair program for professional and personal reasons.  All of them came to the USA as the Au Pairs because they love kids and want to be part of their life.

Many Au Pairs are looking for a valuable experience for their future career in a child care related field. They want to experience life in the American family, learn a new culture and share own culture with others.  follow

A common reason of  participating in the Au Pair program is the opportunity to improve their English skills. Many of au pairs are looking to fulfill a dream of living the U.S. and attending an American College. The Au Pair Amber from Australia took classes in Princeton University.

Many Au Pairs from the Au Pair cluster in Philadelphia, Bucks County and NJ said that they wanted to get away from home, live independently, see the world, get to know different lifestyles and meet new people. I found that many Au Pairs love to travel and they visit many new places when they are here.Au pair list

Some Au Pairs choose the Au Pair program because that they want to escape bad economic and social situations in their countries, save up some money and send home some money to help their families.

I think  most of them become the Au Pairs because they love kids and also are hungry for adventure.

Educational trips for Au Pairs from Philadelphia and Bucks County

Cultural Hi-Ways offers many educational trips for the Au Pairs who live in Philadelphia, Bucks County and close NJ area. The trips/classes hold on weekends as well and Au Pairs can earn 45 class hours. Three classroom sessions (Sundays) at Peirce College, Philadelphia  plus a tour to the destination studied allow Au Pairs to earn a certificate of completion for 45 hours or 4.5 CEU’s.aupairs

This Fall Learning Across America Educational Courses started already with the trip to Niagara Falls. This year Cultural Hi-Ways offers a new trip to Boston. Kiah,  Au Pair from Australia, took this trip recently and shared with others,”Our first stop was the Air Force Memorial. We spent 20 minutes there before being dropped at the National Mall and being given 3 hours of free time. I chose to see the Washington Monument as well as the Holocaust Museum, both free attractions. This trip was absolutely once in a lifetime and I could not recommend it enough!” Read more about the trip to Washington, DC from Kiah post.GoAuPair_Kiah5

Friends Become our Chosen Family

Friends are a family you choose for yourself. ~Author Unknown
All current Au Pairs from the Philadelphia, Bucks County and NJ cluster-have Au Pair buddies. Many Au Pairs are looking forward to becoming a buddy, opening their heart and sharing their experience with new Au Pairs. Au Pairs buddies help a new Au Pair to adjust to a new life in the US quickly. Buddies have special connections and often become more than friends. The buddy program  creates a sense of unity, belonging to a cluster family and a circle of friends. frienship
Becoming a buddy to a new Au Pair is a great way to make new friends.  It  also makes an Au Pair buddy feel good because a new friend really appreciates her support and help.

Cosima, the Au Pair from Germany, said “I know that it’s important to have a helping hand in the beginning. Everything is new to you and you feel kind of lost at some point. And then it’s great to have a person who’s there for you. I’m happy to be that person! And on top it’s an awesome way to gain new friends!”thank you buddy
Being a buddy is a great project that we created and hopefully it will be something that we will keep doing with the cluster in the future.

Reaching new heights

Climbing at Rock Gym and reaching “new heights” was one of the best events ever 🙂 even though we are doing  many interesting activities with the Au Pairs from the Philadelphia,  Bucks County Go Au Pair cluster. This was my very first time being at Rock Gym with the Au Pairs, and I didn’t expect that it will be so fun and exciting.  10568815_861664647238141_3072284950451171438_n

On Saturday,  May 30, 2015  many Au Pairs came to the Doylestown indoor rock climbing gym and adventure facility in the north Philadelphia area and Bucks County. Au Pairs from Australia Amber and Kiah came to the Gym the second time and were impressive in their performance.
