International picnic with the dishes from twelve countries!

The next Au Pair meeting of Go Au Pair cluster in the Philadelphia and Bucks County area – international food picnic – will be on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Independence National Historical Park, 6th St & Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19106. All Au Pairs will bring a dish from their countries! There will be dishes from 12 countries in our Sunday picnic menu or maybe even more because many Au Pairs planed to bring their friends. We will test variety of dishes from China, Colombia, South Africa and Ecuador -since we have many Au Pairs from those countries. Also, we will have an opportunity to try dishes from Hungary, El Salvador, Brazil, Ukraine, Peru, France, Germany and Argentina!

The Au Pair program is a cultural exchange program. Go Au Pair cluster meetings give the Au Pairs chance to meet other Au Pairs from around the world and learn/share their unique culture. We will enjoy the Au Pair international cuisine- the food represents the traditions, stories, and geography and we learned a lot simply trying different food.Au Pair farewell picnic Independence National Historical Park 2

There is also a great opportunity to learn about American history and culture because  we will have the picnic right across the Independence National Historical Hall in the center city of Philadelphia. The Independence Hall is known as the birthplace of the United States. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were signed there. Our international Au Pair team will enjoy the historical Landmark and great company of friends.

Au Pairs will have fun sharing the experience, taking many photos and creating new memories. After the meeting, they will visit many historical places together.

Being an Au Pair buddy is a special honor.

Many new Au Pairs will join the Philadelphia, Bucks County and NJ cluster in January and February 2017, so the cluster Au Pairs are looking forward to being a buddy and sharing their experience with them.

The Au Pair Buddy program started in March 2014 and since that time each new Au Pair from the Philadelphia, Bucks County and NJ cluster had an Au Pair Buddy- a supportive  friend.Go Au Pair Team

I asked Au Pair from Germany Cosima why she wanted to be a buddy and she said “Because I know that it’s important to have a helping hand in the beginning. Everything is new to you and you feel kind of lost at some point. And then it’s great to have a person who’s there for you. I’m happy to be that person! And on top it’s an awesome way to gain new friends!”

Au Pairs have tons of things in common and a lot of experiences that they can share. The buddy shows the area around, introduce the new Au Pair to her friends and have fun together.  The buddy can listen the stories and concerns, understand the feelings and worries and give a piece of advice

The family for ten Au Pairs

Many families from the Philadelphia and Bucks County Cluster of Go Au Pair have a great experience with the Au Pair program. The Veale family nominated their Au Pairs for the Au Pair of the year Award.  They had nine female Au Pairs and last year the family invited male Au Pair from Brazil Lucas.au-pair-farewell-picnic-independence-national-historical-park-lucas

The Veale family hosted ten au pairs with Go Au Pair during ten years. The Veale family has five kids and they also open their hearts  for ten Au Pairs from around the world. Many Au Pairs became part of their family.  The former Au Pairs still visit the family. This summer the Veale family and their new Au Pair made a trip to Germany to visit their former Au Pair Valerie from Germany.

Please read a post from the former Au Pair Karla. ” I am Karla Endres, a South African Au Pair who lived with a very special family; The Veale Family. What makes this family so special is the 2 loving parents, the 2 puppies, a few fish and of course the 5 kids who makes this house a home. The parents were very welcoming and they truly care about their Au Pairs and will make each new Au Pair feel special and part of the family…..

In my year as an Au Pair I got to travel from the east to the west of America. I made three live long friends that I will never forget. We can truly support and help each other and this is what will bond us for live! I also met a lot of other Au Pairs’ from all over the world and learned about their cultures.

Go Au Pair agency was always there when I had any questions or needed help. My cluster group was blessed with a Local Area Representative (LAR) who truly cared and who arranged fun group activities for us. So thank you for all the places you took us to.

So one year later I leave with a lot more knowledge about the world, about myself and about love. The family showed me it’s easier to laugh when you’d rather want to yell, to smile when you feel like crying and to love even when you’re scared of losing!

It’s good to know I will always have a family in America and The Veale Family will always have a place in my heart!

Australian Au Pair Amber.

In January 2015, we welcomed Au Pair from Australia Amber. We have never had Au Pairs from Australia in our Au Pair cluster before,  so it was an exciting and new experience.

Amber  lives with her loving host family in Bucks County, PA.  Her Host Family had many Au Pairs from around the world and loves the Au Pair program.image1

Amber said that as an Au Pair she is able to fulfill two of her greatest passions: caring for children (she worked in a daycare before coming to the USA) and learning about different cultures. “I want to be an AU PAIR as it is an amazing way to combine my love of children with my desire to travel!”

And she does. Amber is taking care of three school-age kids of a very active host family. She is traveling a lot with her family this year, visiting many places and learning  many “first time things”.  Amber met a lot of international friends. Au pairs at Rock Gym 7

Amber is not only a great Au Pair, she is also a great buddy for Au Pair Kathy from Ecuador. She was often with Kathy to help, drive and make a company. Amber’s buddy Cosima, Au Pair from Germany, helped Amber a lot when Amber joined the cluster, so she knows first hand what is a great buddy means.

Amber has great baking  and art skills – look on these fantastic cookies.Au Pair amber cookies

She loves her host family and the kids and plans to come back as a tourist and to see her host kids. Amber is also made a lot of international friends and she is excited to go all over the world and visit them.Au Pair Christmas party 4

Times flies and her year almost finished. Amber said that she had a great Au Pair year and she is looking forward to working in a childcare center and spending time with her family and friends after she comes home.
