Being an Au Pair buddy is a special honor.

Many new Au Pairs will join the Philadelphia, Bucks County and NJ cluster in January and February 2017, so the cluster Au Pairs are looking forward to being a buddy and sharing their experience with them.

The Au Pair Buddy program started in March 2014 and since that time each new Au Pair from the Philadelphia, Bucks County and NJ cluster had an Au Pair Buddy- a supportive  friend.Go Au Pair Team

I asked Au Pair from Germany Cosima why she wanted to be a buddy and she said “Because I know that it’s important to have a helping hand in the beginning. Everything is new to you and you feel kind of lost at some point. And then it’s great to have a person who’s there for you. I’m happy to be that person! And on top it’s an awesome way to gain new friends!”

Au Pairs have tons of things in common and a lot of experiences that they can share. The buddy shows the area around, introduce the new Au Pair to her friends and have fun together.  The buddy can listen the stories and concerns, understand the feelings and worries and give a piece of advice

Thank you to the new buddies

Forever sisters by heart.

This is a surprise farewell post for Au Pair Botle Mpiti (Lucy) from South Africa and this post has been written by Lucy’s friend au pair from S. Africa Kim.her smile always brightens up.jpg

To start with this post, let me say a few words as a Go Au Pair Local Area Representative. In March 2015 we welcomed Lucy to the Philadelphia and Bucks County Go Au Pair cluster. Another South African Au Pair Tania interviewed Lucy in March 2015 and asked her, ” What is the best thing about being an au pair in Philly?, and Lucy said,“Best thing about being an aupair in Philly is that the cluster is huge as to the number of au pairs…meeting my country girls is just so great, knowing other girls from different sides of this world is just too good wouldn’t trade these moments for anything in this world.”Voluntering with Au Pair from Go Au Pair.

Times flies so fast, especially when you’re having fun with friends. Tomorrow is Lucy’s last day with the cluster.  Lucy is very caring and her smile always brightens up the day. Lucy made many friends and had a great experience with the Au Pair program. Thank you for being a great Au Pair and friend, Lucy! We love you and miss you already. Good Luck with your future journey!v 1

Enjoy many photos and a farewell post of Lucy’s friend and forever sisters by heart Kim.

Forever sisters by heart ❤️

Learn about different culture by cooking with your Au Pair.

Food is definitely part of our culture –one that we carry wherever we go. An Au Pair will bring her culture and her food traditions.

A great way to learn about different cultures is by cooking. Every country has own traditions and celebrations, and every holiday has its own food. Why not start cooking and sharing  a meal together with your Au Pair?  It’s a good way to become more familiar with your au pair‘s culture.

If you have French or Italian Au Pair you will learn soon that a traditional breakfast there is coffee and either baguette or croissant. The French often dip their buttered bread into coffee.

 french Au Pair breakfast.jpg
You may learn that hot cereal or porridge, often made with corn and called “putu pap,” is the first meal in Souths Africa from S. African Au Pair .
And if you have an Au Pair from Mexico, she may prefer dishes like chilaquiles (below) and huevos rancheros, or sweet rolls and coffee for breakfast.Mexico Au Pair.jpg
Food is an important part of the culture.  Simply cook together your Au Pair favorite dish, d learn and have fun.

Welcoming a South African Au Pair.

Happy New 2016 Year!

new-year 2016.jpg

A New Year will bring a lot of new Au Pairs to Go Au Pair cluster in Bucks County and Philadelphia and  many new host families!  Many Au Pairs are coming in January!  Please join me in welcoming new Au Pair from S. Africa Alea.

South african Au PairAlea is 23, she will live in Bryn Mawr, PA with a new host family. A special thank goes out to Lisa, an Au Pair from S. Africa, for being Alea’s buddy.

Alea loves playing board games, completing word search puzzles, watching comedy movies and volunteering at orphanage centers! She said that three adjectives that best describe her are simple, playful and warm.

Alea’s one wish would be to play a game of cards while listening to jazz with my father – who is late. We asked Alea what her favorite way to spend a Saturday was and she said, ” Spending my Saturday with great company, good food and the works is priceless!”

Alea said that she is good at problem-solving tasks and I’m a good listener too. Best compliment has to be when I was told that I’m gentle and good-hearted and shouldn’t change.

“I have always dreamt of visiting New York and it looks like my dream came sooner than I had anticipated. I cannot wait!”Au Pair Ophelia New York

Welcome Alea, we are looking forward to meeting you very soon. Your dream of  visiting NY comes true very soon!

Friends Become our Chosen Family

Friends are a family you choose for yourself. ~Author Unknown
All current Au Pairs from the Philadelphia, Bucks County and NJ cluster-have Au Pair buddies. Many Au Pairs are looking forward to becoming a buddy, opening their heart and sharing their experience with new Au Pairs. Au Pairs buddies help a new Au Pair to adjust to a new life in the US quickly. Buddies have special connections and often become more than friends. The buddy program  creates a sense of unity, belonging to a cluster family and a circle of friends. frienship
Becoming a buddy to a new Au Pair is a great way to make new friends.  It  also makes an Au Pair buddy feel good because a new friend really appreciates her support and help.
