Exploring the Philadelphia Flower Show with my Au Pair Friend.

Ophelia’s Diary.

Most my Au Pairs friends left the Flower Show around 5 or 6pm because they live far away. But my friend Adriana and I didn’t leave until 8:30pm. We enjoyed helping others at Make and Take room so much. Au Pairs volunteer

We didn’t want to leave at all. Even after I was done with my volunteering work, an Indian family still came to me look for help. I was so glad I could help them.

Adriana and I left the Make and Take room around 8pm, we use the last half an hour walked around the show. There were so many amazing things to see.

My Au Pair experience in 2013.

Ophelia’s Diary.

2013 year was a great and harvest year for me. I am so thankful that I can be an Au Pair. I love being an Au Pair and would like to share my Au Pair experience with you.

Au Pair US

In January, 2013 I finished all the Au Pair application documents. The next step was matching with family. During this time, I did an internship job at Chinese Au Pair center and tutored American kids mandarin. This experience helped speed up my matching process. On March 3, I got an offer from the family I like. I accepted it happily.

My new friend Au Pair Sis.

How many friends do you have on Facebook? 50, 100 or 1000? Many of them you might have never even met. How many Au Pair friends do you have there ?

And how many sisters do you have?  I have  the only brother, but always dreamed about having a sister. The  Sis with whom I can share my thoughts and have a good time together.

Now, thank to Go Au Pair, I have Aupairsis, my new friend on Facebook. The Sis I can learn from,  ask the question, share my photos and have fun together.

My new Sis will help me and give advice if I need one. I can also participate in many interesting activities and have fun with other Au Pairs- my Sis’ friends.  She will coordinate book clubs and fitness challenges, help with craft and game ideas. I love cooking and my new Sis will  post recipes from around the words. Aupairsis can answer all my questions and I can even ask  her privately.

How many real good friends do you have? It is usually easy to count; in general a person has between 18 and 30 friends.

Do you know how many friends has an average user on Facebook? An average user has about 200 or more friends. It is almost impossible to have so many friends in real life, right?

But it is possible to make a new friend, the Au Pair Sister on Facebook. I did! It was very easy, the Aupairsis accepted my request right away and now we are friends on Facebook .

You can have the Sis too 🙂 She is a big help. You cam learn a lot from her and have fun together with her and her hundreds friends.

A Brazilian Festival in Philadelphia. Com certeza!

Com certeza! (koh-oong seh-teh-zah; Literally: With certainty!) translates to Of course! or Definitely!

If someone asks you Vai para a festa? (vah-ee pah-dah ah fehs-tah; Are you going to the party?), you can answer Com certeza!

WOW, only one week  till a Brazilian Festival in Newtown,  Bucks county, near Philadelphia with my friends Au Pairs from Go Au Pair Philadelphia.

Vai para a festa?  Com certeza!

Definitely!!!  We are going to have a lot of fun-a costume party, a Brazilian food cooking class, a costume competition, games, Brazilian music and dance. Brazilian Au Pairs and I am very busy with the preparations.

Now I will tell you a little more about  my lindo maravilhosa (marvelous) Brazil.

We are also known for our most important party, one that bring people together in the states of Bahia (Northeast), Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo (Southeast): Carnival.

People get together in the streets or in arenas like Sapucaí (in Rio) and Sambódromo (in Sao Paulo) and watch the parade of floats and dancers present sambas about different themes related to our culture.

Every state and city offer something special, but Brazil’s most important ones are:

Sao Paulo: The Picture shows Paulista Ave.

Rio de Janeiro: Cristo Redentor.

Brazil’s music is also known worldwide. From Bossa Nova and Tropicalia to Axé and Rock.

From artists like Gilberto Gil

and Tom Jobin to Cazuza and  Ivete Sangalo.

Our most famous Music Festival has traveled around the world and came back to Brazil in 2011.

We’re also big on fashion. With fashion designers like: Alexandre Herchcovitch: (Stop drooling, ladies!)

And brands like:  Rosa Chá (Yep, that’s Naomi Campbell)

And Colcci:

And, well…Some of us are present in America’s runways and imagination:

My au-pairs friends, come join us!
