Lorena, a new Colombian au pair

Lorena (26) is also one of our new Colombian au pairs and she will be living in Chalfont, Philadelphia.

Lorena (2)

Lorena decided to become an au pair because she loves to work and spend time with kids while teaching and sharing beautiful moments with them. She also wants to improve her English and learn about the American culture.
Lorena (4)
Lorena’s hobbies include watching movies, walking and playing board games. She would describe herself as responsible, patient and someone with a positive attitude.
Thus far the favorite part about being an au pair for Lorena has been the part of living with a new family, while learning more about the American ways of living and also that she has the chance to learn more about herself. Lorena’s most valuable lesson here in America owuld be that communication is always key – and I’m sure every au pair would agree with you 🙂

Welcome Lorena! We are all looking forward to getting to know you better and spending more time with you.

Summer Pool Barbecue Party and a Farewell Au Pair party

Ophelia’s Diary.

We just had a very nice Pool Party at the Au pair Adrina’s host family’s house.Thank you to our Au Pairs.

A lot Au pairs and other friends came to the party. Actually this is also a Farewell Party as many of us will leave this summer.

Au Pair friends

Adriana’s host family hosted us. We had a barbecue together. We played Taboo game. For most of us it’s a good opportunity to practice English as well. Guess what? The host children here are so smart, they did even better than us!

Au Pair friends

This was really a super special day for Adriana’s host family. They got all the three Au Pairs back at the same time. three Au Pairs from host family from Bucks CountyThey said this Au Pair program saved them. They are so happy to have all these Au Pairs.

Volunteered for Newtown Welcome Day with my Au Pair friends

Ophelia’s Diary.

After the yummy and heathy breakfast, we went to volunteer at the Newtown Welcome Day. Also, we met up with other Au Pairs from Go Au Pair there. We were going to volunteer together!

Go Au Pair

This was a new experience for me. Even thought we volunteered for Philadelphia Marathon and Flower Show before, this time was still different.

Au Pairs Bucks County volunteers 6

We helped distributing some flyers and other promotional items. It was fun. In China it will be hard to do volunteer work like this. Because people won’t take the promotional things from you nicely. They will think you are trying to take advantage of them.

But here is different, a lot of people take the promotional items happily. We were glad to see many people had the green bags we gave out!

Au Pair’s Farewell Party Dinner

Ophelia’s Diary.

I just spent a whole weekend with my Au Pair friends. Most of the Au Pairs were from Go Au Pair, a few Au Pairs were from other Au Pair agencies. We had such a great time together.

Welcome to go au pair

On Saturday afternoon, my Local Area Representative Polina picked me up from Warminster train station. We met up with other Au Pairs at Casablanca restaurant. This was really a fancy place. We had a La Carte Dinner Menu, a 6-course in the choice. So much delicious food was in front of us and the price was not expensive.

Then we had the entertainment-belly dance. Everyone was super happy.

During the meal we talked about our Au Pair life in America, we played games and got gifts from Polina. As many Au Pairs will leave our cluster soon, we felt very sad. But even more new Au Pairs will come! Our cluster will be even bigger.

Exploring the Philadelphia Flower Show with my Au Pair Friend.

Ophelia’s Diary.

Most my Au Pairs friends left the Flower Show around 5 or 6pm because they live far away. But my friend Adriana and I didn’t leave until 8:30pm. We enjoyed helping others at Make and Take room so much. Au Pairs volunteer

We didn’t want to leave at all. Even after I was done with my volunteering work, an Indian family still came to me look for help. I was so glad I could help them.

Adriana and I left the Make and Take room around 8pm, we use the last half an hour walked around the show. There were so many amazing things to see.

An Au Pair Again

When Au pair program year or two passed by, it is very sad to say goodby to their host family, friends and the LAR.

Many Au Pairs want to come to US again to be an Au Pair and lots of families would love to host their Au Pair again. The US government recently announced that it will allow Au Pairs who successfully completed their first Au Pair program  and are aged between 18 and 26 years old to return as an aupair again.

Go Au Pair offers the Au Pair Again  program.

The Au Pair Again program allows former Au Pairs to return to the U.S. again with their original family or with a new one. Through the Au Pair Again program, Au Pairs must meet the standard Au Pair requirements in addition to providing proof of successful completion of their initial Au Pair program, including the education requirement. You also have to reside outside of the U.S. for at least two consecutive years following the initial program.

Au Pairs may use a different agency than the one used in their initial program. Also, Au Pairs have the option to participate in a different program, such as EduCare, Plus or Premiere as an Au Pair Again.

Au Pairs participating in the Au Pair Again program are required to complete 6 credit hours of education at an accredited, post-secondary university during their first year or 12 hours if participating in the EduCare program.

Au pairs will have the chance to relive memories, meet friends and families and see all those things they missed first time.
