Welcome, the first Argentine au pair!

We are very excited to meet the first au pair from Argentina Julie! Julie will replace the au pair from Brazil Aline. Aline was an awesome au-pair, she was nominated for an -pair of the year! All the au-pairs from Go Au Pair Philadelphia are looking forward to meeting Julie.13265919_10201790749687686_5968902754672266875_n (2)

Julie’s host kids were so excited to meet her that they even made a special gift for her – a welcoming poster.

Julie’s host mom made a great present for her  – a handmade lamp, so that she will feel cozy and comfortable in her new  room.

I am really lucky to interview Julie, especially because it’s my first time interviewing an au- pair! So, we asked her a couple of questions to get to know her better.Juli au pair argentina

1.Why do you want to be an au-pair?

I wanted to be and au pair because it’s a great opportunity for cultural exchange…for meeting new people and work with kids…It also gives me the opportunity to study in a college or university, so it’s like a complete package for me.

2. Please tell us something about your hobbies.

My hobbies are cooking, writing and reading. I like to go out with friends but not every weekend…

3. What places would you like to visit?

I’ll like to visit New Orleans, New York again, Chicago, Disney… California… And Philadelphia, o course.

4. What three adjectives best describe you?

I consider myself good with people, I’m studying to be a psychologist, so that it’s kind of a requirement… I’m also a good singer, I think, hahahaha

Wow, I was surprised to find out there’s one more person in our cluster, who’s interested in psychology! We’ll have a lot to discuss when we meet, Julie:)Julis au pair argentina

5.Did you like the NY  workshop? Why?

I really like the workshop, Patrick was amazing with us and taught everything perfectly. I’ll recommend it. I liked it because it was a very good way to start to know the culture in this country. And because it teaches you a lot of stuff that you need to know before working with kids.

Thank you for the answers, Julie, we are looking forward to seeing you in person and spending time with you, sharing our experience and impressions of being an au-pair.

Au Pair from Australia Kiah

In January, we welcomed  Au Pair from Australia Amber.10984738_1000396696656232_654688054_n

Very soon, another Australian Au Pair Kiah joined the Au Pair cluster in Philadelphia, Bucks County and NJ.  Amber and Kiah live close to each other with their host families in Bucks County, PA and became best friends quickly. Kiah takes care of two little lovely girls, she calls them”my princesses.”IMG_5680[1]

Kiah loves to watch movies, meet friends and travel. She is very organized and active. Kiah shared a lot about her experience on this blog. Look up Kiah’s diary. She also contributed a lot to Au Pair Sis blog.IMG_0784

Kiah loves babies and she visits Kathy’s host family very often. The Smolarski family has a lot of kids and babies, so Kiah observed the triplets growing from their first months and she became friends with the family.kiah au pair australia

Kiah really loves travel. I don’t know any other Au Pair who travels so much and visits as many places as Kiah does. She traveled a lot with Cultural Hi-Ways. Kiah also loves to share her experiences.image

Kiah is looking forward to being an Au Pair in England next year, exploring the new country and making new friends. Good luck, Kiah .

Australian Au Pair Amber.

In January 2015, we welcomed Au Pair from Australia Amber. We have never had Au Pairs from Australia in our Au Pair cluster before,  so it was an exciting and new experience.

Amber  lives with her loving host family in Bucks County, PA.  Her Host Family had many Au Pairs from around the world and loves the Au Pair program.image1

Amber said that as an Au Pair she is able to fulfill two of her greatest passions: caring for children (she worked in a daycare before coming to the USA) and learning about different cultures. “I want to be an AU PAIR as it is an amazing way to combine my love of children with my desire to travel!”

And she does. Amber is taking care of three school-age kids of a very active host family. She is traveling a lot with her family this year, visiting many places and learning  many “first time things”.  Amber met a lot of international friends. Au pairs at Rock Gym 7

Amber is not only a great Au Pair, she is also a great buddy for Au Pair Kathy from Ecuador. She was often with Kathy to help, drive and make a company. Amber’s buddy Cosima, Au Pair from Germany, helped Amber a lot when Amber joined the cluster, so she knows first hand what is a great buddy means.

Amber has great baking  and art skills – look on these fantastic cookies.Au Pair amber cookies

She loves her host family and the kids and plans to come back as a tourist and to see her host kids. Amber is also made a lot of international friends and she is excited to go all over the world and visit them.Au Pair Christmas party 4

Times flies and her year almost finished. Amber said that she had a great Au Pair year and she is looking forward to working in a childcare center and spending time with her family and friends after she comes home.
