Hey, Marco! Welcome to the cluster!

Let me share Marco Van Vuuren’s short message with you! He comes in a week from South Africa!  He is my “buddy”, I am excited! I like him very much! I love his humor! So let’s see!

“I want to be an au pair, because I love working kids. I worked with kids at a school before I had started au pairing.
My hobbies are making food, gardening, cycling and just to have fun with my friends and family.
The three best adjectives that describes me are crazy, outgoing and a great friend. I would wish to have the best time of my life in the US and to talk about it back home.
I would like to visit Hollywood and just spend time there.
My favorite way to spend a Saturday is to go out and do something fun at a fun park or so. I consider myself good with children, making friends and listening to others.”
I have no doubt, that Marco will totally enjoy his year here! ♥

Welcome to the cluster Miguel Ochoa!

The honor is mine, to introduce a male au pair from Colombia! Miguel is 25 years old, takes care of three boys in Bucks County. He is in the EduCare program: he will work less, but learn more.

  • He would like to visit Washington.14341496_10153909391488857_497048441_n.jpg
  • He says, he is friendly, outgoing and funny.
  • He likes going out, for example on Saturdays and see new places.

I am sure, that Miguel will have fun with other au pairs and make friends soon. We’ll see you in a couple days Miguel! He will also meet  our new au pair! ♥

The Au Pair Program in the US and Abroad

The Au Pair program’s requirement varies around the world.

Go Au Pair agency currently sends Au Pairs to the following countries:  AustraliaAustriaChinaFranceGermanyNetherlandsNorwayNew ZealandSouth Africa, and Turkey

For example, German Au Pairs, who are between 18 and 24 years old, single and childless can provide 30 hours of childcare assistance and light housework for their host families each week. Childcare duties may include changing diapers, feeding, bathing, dressing, playing, reading, crafts, transporting between school and home or other outside activities, supervising play, and assisting with their bedtime routine.

German Fans

In addition to childcare, German Au Pairs help with housekeeping. Their household duties may include vacuuming, doing the laundry, preparing simple meals, grocery shopping, ironing, setting the dinner table, cleaning the children’s room and looking after pets.

Host Families in Germany provide their Au Pair with a private room and full board, €260 pocket money per month, 4 weeks vacation per year and health insurance. Au pairs are responsible to pay for their Visa, Airfare to and from Germany, classes and transportation to class

This program is close to Educare Au Pair program in the US. According J-1 Visa exchange visitor program, “EduCare participants are not to work more than 10 hours a day/30 hours a week. They must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours of academic credit, or its equivalent, during their program. Host families provide the first $1,000 to the Au Pair toward the cost of the educational component.” The EduCare weekly stipend is $146.81.

Friendship has wings

As you see that German Au Pairs are supposed to do some housekeeping that is not a requirement for Au Pairs in the USA. Also they earn less money and are supposed to pay for their Visa, their tickets to and from Germany, and  their classes.

Different Au Pair programs

There are many options to meet families  child care, scheduling and budgetary needs.

Go Au Pair offers five types of Au Pair programs.

Standard Au Pair Program
The Standard Au Pair program is by far Go Au Pair’s most popular child care program for both Host Families and Au Pairs.

Au Pair Plus Program
Au Pairs participating in the Au Pair Plus program must have previous experience as an Au Pair in another country in addition to the requirements for the Standard Au Pair program.

Premiere Au Pair Program
Au Pairs in this program are required to have additional experience than Standard and Au Pair Plus.

EduCare Au Pair Program
Educare Au Pairs work 30 hours per week instead of 45, so their weekly stipend is lower than the other programs. Educare Au Pair are the only Au Pairs not permitted to care for children under the age of 2 even if they have experience caring for infants.

Au Pair Again Program
This program allows former Au Pairs to return to the U.S. again with their original family or with a new one.
