An Au Pair in Excellence from Philadelphia.

What is the best proof that parents are happy with the quality of their kid’s childcare? I think that the best proof of great child care is the families desire to recognize their Au Pairs by spending time writing very special words about them.

Au pair volunteering at the Philadelphia Flower Show

“Ophelia has been a precious addition to our family”, wrote Ophelia’s host mom in her nomination essay. ” Between her devotion to Theo, her delicious dumplings, her boundless optimism and positivity, and her simple dependability, Ophelia has enriched our lives and enabled us to pursue our dream of having a family during graduate school. Just as Theo is growing up with Ophelia, Ophelia has grown to be an indispensable part of our lives. We cannot express how grateful we are to have her with us”.Au Pair from China with her host child

An Au Pair from South Africa is a great and common choice among Host Families.  Au Pairs from South Africa are taught to be independent from a young age, they grow up quickly and learn to be self-motivated and driven to achieve their goals. They drive from a young age, because of the rural areas here in South Africa, known as Farms. They are social people, love the outdoors, and adore animals, wild life and the ocean.aupairs south africa

American families benefits from South African Au Pairs because they grew up in a country very exposed to western cultures that makes them fit in exceptionally well with American Families, their English skills are very well developed, and South African Au Pairs are able to make the best of every situation and bring positive energy to any household. In the Au Pair of the Year nomination, Nicole – Host Mom, writes, “Looking back, I know that the day that we matched with Phila was probably one of the luckiest things ever to happen to our family because of the light and love she has brought into our home and for the positive influence she has been on the life and character of my daughters.  As a mother who works very long hours, there is nothing more important in the world to me than to know that, if I can’t be the one to take care of my children during the work week, the person who is taking care of them for me loves them almost as much as I do and is a shining example of grace, courage and character.”Au Pair Phila with her host child

Things An Au Pair Can’t Live Without

New host families often ask me what they may provide to their Au Pairs in addition to board and stipend. They want to know if there is anything else they may offer to their Au Pair as an appreciation for her/his hard work.

Some host families may choose to provide to the Au Pair a computer and Internet access, a cell phone and use of a car for her/his spare time.  Some families may consider providing a personal computer  and TV in the Au Pair room, a membership to a sport club and a chance to travel with the family for free. It depends on the family’s resources and on what the Au Pair is interested in.

Here are 20 things Americans can’t live without 🙂

I asked Au Pairs from Go Au Pair cluster from the Philadelphia and NJ area to  name material things they can’t live without (doesn’t include family, friends, etc.)

Dear Au Pair,  What’s on your list?

What are you glad you have in your life or you really need to have as an Au Pair? I believe your host family will be glad to know that. Here is a long list of “an Au Pairs life necessities” I wrote collectively with Au Pairs from my cluster.

Please take your time and vote.

An Au Pair went to Disney World with her Host Family -a dream came true.

Ying, an Au Pair from China had a great trip to Disney World with her amazing host family from Philadelphia. Ying’s dream to visit Disney World with her host family came true.

Ying had a fantastic time with her three host children. She wants to share her experience and photos and thank her family for a special time and memories.

“I am excited to go Disney World with my host family for Christmas. I’m very appreciative for my host family to take me to this trip. We had a wonderful time there.

We went to Disney Epcot and Hollywood Studio. As Disney said, ” Let’s make dream come true.”  This is my dream to have fun in Disney world with my host family. Also this trip is to celebrate one of my host children Tasha’s birthday. She is happy to have her birthday party in Disney.

We came to Disney Brown Derby for dinner and had delicious food there. We all glad to meet every Disney character and I felt like get back to my childhood.

When we get into Disney World, it is really like let’s the memories begin. I enjoy this trip in Orlando especially there is no disney in my hometown.

It was a great experience for me to visit the biggest Disney World in the US with my host family.  Thank you very much!”
