I take great pleasure in providing daily, ongoing, local support to both Host Families and Au Pairs in Philadelphia and suburban, Montgomery, Bucks County and close NJ
Volunteering as a team brings Au Pairs together and allows to discover another side of the American life. Volunteering is a very popular activity in the US. Americans use some of their free time to volunteer and say that volunteering is fun and makes them feel happier. Volunteering is also an opportunity to make new connections and became a part of the community. It helps the Au Pairs get a rich cultural exchange experience which is a goal of the Au Pair program.
The Au Pair team from Go Au Pair will volunteer face painting, distribute balloons, make crafts with kids and represent many countries. There will be a huge cultural diversity Brazilian Au Pairs, Chinese Au Pairs, Colombian Au Pairs, Salvadorian Au Pairs, Ecuadorian Au Pairs, Ukrainian Au Pairs, Argentinian Au Pairs, South African Au Pairs, Mexican Au Pairs, and French Au Pairs.
We also will have Go Au Pair host children team! Thank you to the Host Families and Go Au Pair agency for supporting our teams!
Many Au Pairs are very enthusiastic and motivated to change the word for the better. To start changing the world, we may need only to directly impact the lives of a few people.
Small steps… but here is a start – volunteering at the International Spring Festival.
Come join us volunteering and/or enjoying the unique Festival which has been organized by international team!
The Au Pair program helps Au pairs learn about American culture. For young people considering to visit the US, Au Pair is an exciting and rewarding cultural exchange experience. They make international friends and their host family often becomes their second family abroad.
I feel passionate about the positive impact of volunteering at the marathon. Volunteering will bring a lot of benefits to the community and make a difference.
In addition, it will be useful to the young adults from around the world who choose to volunteer in the US. It can be a first-hand experience for the Au Pairs and also, a life changing event. The Au Pairs will return back home, share with others and spread their experience all over the globe.
Volunteering for a cause is not common in some countries, and Au Pairs may feel like ambassadors. Many Au Pairs are very enthusiastic and motivated to change the word for the better. To start changing the world, we may need only to directly impact the lives of a few people. Smal steps… but here is a start – volunteering at the Philadelphia Marathon! See you there!
Every year Host Families, Au Pairs and a Local Area Representative from Go Au Pair agency meet for a Family Day Conference. Families get the opportunity to meet other Host Families and Au Pairs in the area. Host Parents share their experiences and get to know the Local Area Representative better.
During the Family Day Conference we explore many interesting places- festivals, historical landmarks, and parks. In the past, several host families with children and Au Pairs volunteered for Pearl S. Bucks International -a historical landmark and adoption place.
The Family Day Conference is required by the Department of State and Host Families are obligated to attend at least one while hosting an Au Pair. Attendance is a condition of program participation and failure to attend will be grounds for possible termination of continued or future program participation.
Attending the Family Day Conference is valuable and fun experience. Host Families and Au Pairs leave the event with unforgettable memories. Please join us for the Family Day Conference, at Grounds for Sculpture, 18 Fairgrounds Road, Hamilton, New Jersey 08619, on October 13, 2013.
The prospectiveHost Families are welcome to join. Au Pairs from Go Au Pair and their friends, Au Pairs from other agencies are welcome too! Please check our activities.
The Au Pair offers an opportunity to learn a new language, culture and make friends all over the world. Here are even more benefits that the Au Pair program gives to the kids.
The Au Pairs program teaches kidsto respect cultural diversity. Many Au Pairs follow a different set of norms and behaviors. Kids learn to respect their differences, welcome them and be flexible.
The Au Pairs program teaches kids to accept the differences. Au Pairs help them to learn about different customs and traditions and appreciate those differences.
The Au Pair program teaches kids the tolerance and mutual understanding. Kids will be more likely to embrace differences and see the value in others.
The Au Pairs program teaches the kids many things that help their personal growth and becoming a responsible citizen of the world.
Every time the Au Pairs from my cluster and I get together, I enjoy cultural diversity and learn a lot from my Au Pairs. Cultural diversity enriches our lives in many ways. Hearing the stories, exploring different kinds of foods, music and cultures are educational and fun. Thank to the Au Pair program, Host Families and Au Pairs benefit from cultural exchange and long friendship.
Au Pairs speak different languages, have differently colored skin and heritage, and practice different cultures and religions. Even though, there are many differences, Au Pairs have a lot in common: they participate in the Au Pair program and have the Form DS-2019 and the J-1 Visa, have childcare experience and love kids, have the same desire to work as an Au Pair in America, common interests and needs.
The Au Pairs program teaches to accept the differences. Acceptance is important to friendship because friendship requires it along with honesty and commitment. Friendship comes when you care about who the other person really is. If you can learn to truly accept the differences that other Au Pairs bring into your life, you will make many special friends, because friendship is an acceptance of another, not an altering.
We all are unique. Be different as you are. Respect your friends’ difference because what makes us different is what makes us special.
First of all, we all are similar -we all are friends and Au Pairs from Go Au Pair cluster in the Philadelphia and NJ area. We all share a lot of common: we participate at Au Pair program and have the Form DS-2019 and the J-1 Visa. We all have childcare experience and love kids. We all have the same desire working as an Au Pair in America and and interests of exploring the world. We have the same needs and we do a lot of things together like one big family.
Second, we all are different. We speak different languages, we have different colored skin and heritage, we follow to a different set of norms and behaviors, we practice different culture and religions.
Yes, we are very different people! That is a benefit because being different further our own personal growth and expanding our world view. When Au Pairs meet these differences they learn the respect to other cultures. Also Au Pairs have an opportunity to learn about many cultures around the world and the values of tolerance and mutual understanding.
An Au Pairs program teaches Au Pairs to be open minds and hearts to other people and cultures and be responsible citizens of the world!
People are often confused about the word Au Pair. The Google search for the word “au pair” shows that people often misspell this world as “au par”, “au paire”, “opair”, “au per”
Many people think that au pair means a nanny. An Au Pair doesn’t mean a nanny at all.
The word “au pair“ is a French term, which means “on par” or “equal to, “ denoting living on an equal basis in a reciprocal, caring relationship between the host family and the children. An au pair will typically be a young woman and sometimes a young man from a foreign country who chooses to help look after the children of a host family and provide light housekeeping. The au pair is given room and board and is typically paid a weekly “pocket-money” salary. Au pairs generally stay with their host family for one year.
Go Au Pair recruits Au Pairs from over 60 different countries, and very popular in the USA are Argentine, Brazilian, Chinese, Colombian, French, South Korean, Mexican, Russian, Salvadorian, South African, Thai and Ukrainian Au Pairs.
According to Wikipedia , an au pair (plural: au pairs) is a domestic assistant from a foreign country working for, and living as part of, a host family. Typically, au pairs take on a share of the family’s responsibility for childcare as well as some housework, and receive a small monetary allowance for personal use. Au pair schemes are subject to government restrictions which specify an age range usually from late teens to mid to late twenties.
Every year thousands of young people from all over the world consider becoming au pairs. These enthusiastic unique individuals come to the United States leaving behind the familiarity of their homeland, their parents, siblings and close friends. They start a special journey in their young years and become a part of a host family as an equal member of the family helping with childcare , studying and traveling. Usually it is very far away from their real home.
Go Au Pair recruits Au Pairs from over 60 different countries, and very popular are Argentine, Brazilian, Chinese, Colombian, French, South Korean, Mexican, Russian, Salvadorian, South African, Thai and Ukrainian Au Pairs.
Faced with so many choices of au pair candidates, it is only natural for a host family to look for a way to narrow the search down. A question many au pair agency staff and local counselors hear from host families is, tell us
The real answer is – it depends. The best au pair for one family can be a bad fit for another family. A lot depends on the personality and experience of the individual au pair. But there are also some common traits and cultural values that shape candidates from different countries
Cultural differences, not to be confused with stereotypes, are the result of an upbringing in a different country, with its own culture, religion and values. For example, au pairs from many Latin American countries typically have close family relationships, and are very affectionate and loving with children, and believe in God. Au pairs from Asia take their job extremely seriously, and value education.
There are also differences shaped by the living conditions in a country, that are not cultural. For example, in some Asian countries it might not be common for young women to drive or own a car, so au pairs from those countries might be not very experienced drivers.
In some countries the economic divide between rich and poor is so great, that every middle class family has a maid, so an au pair from such a country might not have a clue about simple domestic tasks (but might be perfectly willing and excited to learn!).
In more prosperous countries it might be easier for a high school graduate to pay for applying to the au pair program, and less lucrative to do so for a college graduate – so the candidate pool from such countries might be considerably younger.
Another factor in family country preference is personal experience, or experience of others.
For experienced host families, their preference for a certain country might be shaped by their personal experience with the au pair program. After an unsuccessful match, it is natural to avoid candidates from the same area of the world, for the next few years, or forever.
Or conversely, after good luck with candidates from a certain country, it is natural to look to repeat the same experience. Ease, difficulty or speed of obtaining au pair visas also varies from country to country. This factor can also dictate country choice for au pair host families.
Au pair agencies keep statistics of the percentage of au pairs from each country who drive, who are under two qualified, who are college graduates, who obtain visas. If a family wants to narrow down the choice of countries, it can be helpful to speak to the agency representative when trying to figure out candidates from which countries might be the best fit for the family childcare needs.
If you are looking for a high quality care provider consider Go Au Pair. I will help your family have a flexible, live-in childcare for less than the cost of a nanny that will also expose your children to new cultures.
