The best Au Pair that the family can imagine available

Kim, the outstanding South African Au Pair who lives in Philadelphia, PA. She was nominated to the Au Pair in the Year Award by her host family and became an Au Pair in Excellence. Her host family said,  “Kim truly is the best Au Pair that we can imagine”.

“Kim is an incredible young woman who has won our hearts and become an integral member of our family over the past year.”

Kim said, “I have been experiencing the American culture and caring for two amazing little kids Arya (age 3) and Arthur (age 1) for the past year a half. I arrived whilst Arthur was still “baking in the oven” and not yet born and have had the privilege of seeing him grow and experience many different and wonderful growing phases with him. I have always had a love for children and knew that I wanted to experience something life changing with them. I became “mommy’s little helper” at a very young age when my younger siblings were born, and learnt a lot about childcare through them. I became a babysitter for many family friends and friends of friends and volunteered at a nursery school prior to coming to the States.Au Pair s. Africa Kim

I (and many of my friends and family who know me) would describe me as fun-loving creative, spontaneous, open and responsible and am a big advocate for hands-on play, definitely not afraid to get down on my knees.I have my South African driver’s license and an American learners license, I have experience in driving as I was responsible for driving Arya to school and back. I love the outdoors and most of my hobbies would include being outdoors and staying active. I am well-educated and fluent in English, I see myself as academic and love putting my brain to work whether it be solving something hard or giving a helping hand (or in this case, a helping brain) with kids homework. I love new challenges as they are big part of learning.

Femke’s host family said that she  bonded with Maggie and they grew together very quickly. “This was due to Femke’s lovely, gentle and caring nature, her wicked sense of humor and a great willingness to get involved with our family and friends.”

What makes you happy? International Day of Happiness!

Today is the international Day of Happiness.  The United Nations has declared March 20 the first International Day of Happiness to underline the commitment of its 193 member states to “better capture the importance of the pursuit of happiness and well-being in development with a view to guiding their public policies.”Friendship has wings

Today is an official day of laughing, loving, playing, hugging, dancing, singing and, of course, smiling. A smile is a universal sign of happiness. Hugs and bows have different meanings in different cultures. A smile is known around the world and in all cultures as a sign of happiness and approval.smile

The Au Pair program is a cultural exchange program. The program helps Au Pairs and Host Families explore other cultures. If, sometimes happen they don’t understand each other, here is a smile – the universal language of kindness and happiness.

Did you know about  the Gross National Happiness Index (GNH) that  uses an alternative measure of national and societal prosperity. GNH refers to the concept of a quantitative measurement of well-being and happiness. I am not sure how people cam measure happiness correctly because I believe that everyone’s thoughts of happiness are different.

I think that we often need small things to feel happy and success, money, losing weight and looking great are not on the top of the list of things that make us happy.

Here are 50 things that make people happy I found on the internet.

The Best Au Pair Ever.

The best Au Pair ever – that is how one of the host families from the Philadelphia and NJ cluster who have had seven Au Pairs before,  titled their nomination. “Throughout the past 8 years, I has met many au pairs in this program, so many of whom were wonderful young women.  But I can say, without a doubt, that our Phila stands out as the best of the best,” the host mom wrote.
Go Au Pair agency supported the family opinion and nominated the Au Pair Phila Sozombile  Go Au Pair 2012 Au Pair in Excellence Award.
Several Au Pairs from the Philadelphia NJ cluster were nominated by their host families for Au Pair of the Year Award this year.  I am excited that the Au Pair Phila was recognized as Go Au Pair 2012 Au Pair in Excellence winner. Congratulations, Phila!
Phila’s Host Family wrote an amazing nomination essay that outlined the tremendous impact she has on their family, the hard work and dedication she provides daily and the wonderful connection she has formed with the kids:Au Pair Phila with her host child
“I know that the day that we matched with Phila was probably one of the luckiest things ever to happen to our family because of the light and love she has brought into our home and for the positive influence she has been on the life and character of my daughters.”

I really feel that many Au Pairs from my cluster are the outstanding Au Pairs and deserved the prizes also. They are providing not only a childcare but also are giving the kids their love and friendship, and being a role model for them.
Being a Local Area Representative  for Go Au Pair for almost 4 years, I saw many happy families that continue with this program year after year and have unforgettable experiences. I see many families bond with their Au Pairs – after many years they stay in touch, visit each others and develop long-term friendships through this amazing Au Pair program.
