Maybe in distance, but never in heart.

Hey everyone!  Thank you for your question, Vicky.  As you asked me why I choose my host family, I will start from there.

First, I chose my host family because they reminded me a lot about my own family, a family that is fun, loving caring and always do what is in the b

est interest of those around them…My own family is exactly like that, we love to do fun things together, we care about each other and we love each other.

Second, it was because this family is different, it is a very big family. Exactly how big I will tell you later.

I don’t mind doing some extra work or being overwhelming with many kids, I simply want this experience.

My family and friends were very supportive since the first day that I told them that I want to be an Au Pair; no one ever brought me down. They always motivated, supported and respected my every step that I took to be where I am today. To be honest, at times I felt that I would not be able to pull through with the whole Au Pair thing and still they were the ones that told me that I can! Thanks to technology we are still able to talk to each other often, they also can read this post ;-), we might be apart in distance but NEVER in heart.

To obtain my visa was really not very difficult, my Au Pair agency made me an appointment at the American consulate and they also took me there on the day that I had to do my interview. The people there were very friendly and quick I

had my interview done (the interview is not difficult and you really don’t have to stress at all).

I was so happy when they told me that my visa has been approved and three days later my visa was delivered at my Au Pair agency. Once that was done I had to focus on packing and getting my last things before I had to fly.

Six days after my last school examination I had to leave everything behind, get on an airplane and come to America, for the first time in my life I had to go away from my family knowing that I will only see them in a year time.
