Why do families want Au Pairs to take care of infants and toddlers?

Choosing an Au Pair for a family with babies is a game-changer for several reasons. An Au Pair ensures personalized care, offering one-on-one attention tailored to the infant’s unique needs. The flexibility in scheduling is ideal for parents with unpredictable work hours, providing peace of mind. With the Au Pair program, childcare happens at home, eliminating the hassle of transporting infants to external facilities. The cultural exposure an Au Pair brings enriches the infant’s environment, fostering cognitive development and cultural awareness.

Language diversity enhances early communication skills. Beyond childcare, an Au Pair becomes a supportive family member, assisting with household tasks and offering an extra set of hands. The program is often an affordable option for in-home, personalized care, making it especially appealing for families with small kids. The loving bond formed with an Au Pair contributes to a positive family dynamic, ensuring continuity of care and stability for the infant’s early years.

While having Au Pairs doesn’t guarantee kids won’t get sick, the personalized care, cultural practices, and individualized attention they offer may contribute to a healthier environment. Proactive hygiene habits, flexibility for outdoor activities, and a lower child-to-caregiver ratio could positively impact overall well-being.

Having an Au Pair can offer a unique and enriching childcare solution for families with infants, providing a blend of individualized care, cultural exposure, and practical support for both parents and the little one.

Combo and in-person classes for the Philadelphia and Bucks County Au Pairs, Spring 2023 semester.

During the Au Pair year, Au Pairs should complete 6 semester hours or the equivalent of 72 hours (12 credits or 144 hours for the Educare program.) Au Pairs are supposed to attend classes at a university, college, or continuing education program sponsored by a college in person. Starting January 1, 2023, the Department of State will no longer accept online classes. The combo courses, a mix of online and in-person classes, will still be accepted.

Adoptive families and the Au Pair Program.

More and more adoptive families choose the Au Pair Program because Au Pairs connect better with adopted children than nannies. For adoptive families hosting an au pair fulfills two needs: affordable childcare and exposure to a different culture which is very important if a family adopted a child internationally. i love au pairs
The adopted child sees someone of his/her race/ethnicity every day and may learn the language of his/her birth country. Susan Kibler,  the adoptive parent, said, “Au Pair is proud of their own culture. They will bring a different perspective the American families cannot provide,” said  “For the children placed in US homes, knowing about their own culture builds confidence instead of making them feel different or ashamed of their skin color or background.”

With Au Pair Program a host family hosts someone who gets to know the family and the kids and has a complete interest in being a great childcare provider. He/she loves the children instead of it being a job and become a part of the family. The Au Pair develops a special relationship with the kids and boosts a love to a different culture.

Hosting an au pair is not just childcare—it’s a gift of cultural immersion. An Au Pair can bring a lot with their own customs, traditions, language, talents, cuisine, etc.and the children can learn another language.
A new Host Family may be eligible for up to $1,000.00 in discounts! Those who match with an Au Pair from Go Au Pair within 90 days of applying will be eligible to receive $750 off program fees and pay no application fee!

Saying goodbye to an amazing au pair Lisa Jean Cloete

It’s always difficult to say good-bye, especially to really friendly, kind, fun and flawless au pair from South Africa Lisa Jean Cloete.

We hope Lisa’s au pair experience was awesome, and she will take only the best warm memories home to South Africa! But before she leaves, we would like to share her opinion about her au pair year with all of you. Here is what Lisa said :

“My experience with Go Au pair was very good, no real complaints everyone was helpful from every department.

I Loved Niagara falls and Poconos family beach house, also enjoyed Atlantic City NJ. Usually I loves spending my free time by hanging with my friends especially the ones I met in Connecticut as we would do bonfires and they showed me everything enjoyable:) I also loved spending time making new friends or meet ups with Au pairs. If I stayed home I loved NETFLIX who doesn’t lol.

I loved the experience of meeting different people from different cultures. Our Philadelphia au pair  cluster was triple the size if not more than my previous cluster. So was nice meeting all the ladies and gents. Definitely a big group of South Africans felt like home lol.  My best experience living in the US? I loved doing the travel courses like Niagara Falls etc meeting other Au pairs at courses and making new friends. I loved the feeling of being on the campus.

My au pair experience taught me to have lots of patience but I knew that coming into this that I would need that and to be very independent. I loved this experience, Love the culture and small traditions that American families have. Love the BBQ and learning to do a BBQ etc.  I learnt to shovel snow and a lot of it, I learnt how to BBQ and how to paddle board and Kayaking.

My favorite Au pair meeting was the Christmas party as we all came together did the secret Santa and made yummy dishes from our countries. Plus most of the group was there that day, so met a whole lot of new faces.  I would recommend being an au pair but I recommend it to people that are at least 21 and up so they have more childcare experience and have some driving experience which you need.  I hope all the Au pairs in the cluster and Polina have a lovely year further and may you all have some fun meetings ahead. Don’t forget to have fun and travel. Go Au pair keep up the great work. Thank you all for being amazing xoxo” LISA

Welcome to the cluster, Bianka!

Our Philadelphia au-pair cluster is always happy to welcome new amazing au-pairs from all over the world! This week we are very excited for the arrival of Bianka Munkás from Hungary!

13664731_1169328396464227_1281914050_n

Bianka is crazy about books and reading. She likes to broaden her knowledge and learn something new. In her free time she usually does yoga, watches movies, especially horror, drama or fantasy. Bianka spends a lot of time with her little brother and friends of course: they like to ride a bike or just sit down somewhere in the nature while eating and chatting.

13664547_1169328393130894_2147080622_n

Bianka is affectionate, brave, self-conscious so she can completely enjoy every bit of life. She loves animals, nature and the human body. She’s interested in blood, birth and death, which others find odd. She actually takes interest in human feelings, relationships (between mother and child for example), non-verbal behavior. She’s supersensitive, so she can understand people, their reactions that’s why she can give them advice or a shoulder to cry on if it’s needed. Plus, she can solve problems and find the best solution. She doesn’t have plans what to visit and she’s open for everything. Bianka likes the programes with adrenalin and nature.

13872428_1169328343130899_149368412_n

Bianka, we wish you to experience an unforgettable year as an au-pair and enjoy every moment of it! Hope to met you soon at one of our Philadelphia cluster meetings!

Special thanks and recognition for an au pair Sijia

Time flies, and unfortunately soon we’ll have to say good-bye to an awesome au-pair from China and just a great person – Sijia Zhu. She has been an au-pair for almost 2 years, and it’s time to leave in 3 months. But before going back to a beautiful and  mysterious China, Sijia wants to share some valuable information with us – her experience and impressions of being an au-pair.

‘ My name is Sijia , I’ve been living here almost 2 years. If you ask me do I like my aupair experience? My answer is absolutely yes, when I just came here got to my host family, I was nervous and didn’t know what to do, but now we get on together like family members.

Totally agree here, Sijia and her host child do look like a family!:) They’re so happy and definitely are having fun!

What places I visited that I like the most?  It’s very hard to choose, I think it’s Philly, the first time I saw the profile about my host family that they live near Philly, I was excited, I know Philly is the city with a long history, I like to hang out with my friends at old city area, enjoy the leisure time at harbour park, walk around with my friends in the UPENN, even Philly is not a big city, I still like this city most.

What is the most valuable lesson I learned from being an aupair?  My host family is a single family, before I came here I thought it would be a very hard time to stay with a single family, but actually, it’s totally different, from these 2 years I realized, to be a patient, cheerful person, always keep the positive attitude it’s very important, that will affect your host family, I believe happiness is contagious.

13459664_400185746818675_79647822_n

Sijia and her host kid look soooo cute together:)

What is my favorite aupair meeting? I think it’s in March last year the Flower Show, that’s fabulous, there were all different kinds of flowers from the world, that’s so amazing!!!

Would you recommend being an aupair to others?   I’m very happy to recommend this program to others, it’s a very good way to know the real American culture and daily life to be an aupair, not only the ways you know how to get on well with the kids but also you will learn a lot from your host family, it will broaden your views.

13434173_400185860151997_775402145_n

Wonderful smiles!

I’m so lucky to be a member of my host family, I love my host kids, I call them naughty babies, both of them are not only clever but also active, before I came here my English was so bad, they helped a lot to improve my English, they always respect me and never force me to do the things I don’t like, they treat me just like family members, they always welcome my friends to come here, my host dad is a selfless considerate person who always help me and my friends, so appreciate he did everything for me, every time when he goes to the grocery store, he buys the food I like, such as the yogurt, cheery and some other things, that makes me touched a lot. If the weather is ok, my favorite thing is walk around with my host kids after dinner. How time flies, I can’t believe I will leave in 3 months, don’t want to say goodbye, I love my host family, I’m looking forward to see them in China!!!
