International picnic with the dishes from twelve countries!

The next Au Pair meeting of Go Au Pair cluster in the Philadelphia and Bucks County area – international food picnic – will be on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Independence National Historical Park, 6th St & Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19106. All Au Pairs will bring a dish from their countries! There will be dishes from 12 countries in our Sunday picnic menu or maybe even more because many Au Pairs planed to bring their friends. We will test variety of dishes from China, Colombia, South Africa and Ecuador -since we have many Au Pairs from those countries. Also, we will have an opportunity to try dishes from Hungary, El Salvador, Brazil, Ukraine, Peru, France, Germany and Argentina!

The Au Pair program is a cultural exchange program. Go Au Pair cluster meetings give the Au Pairs chance to meet other Au Pairs from around the world and learn/share their unique culture. We will enjoy the Au Pair international cuisine- the food represents the traditions, stories, and geography and we learned a lot simply trying different food.Au Pair farewell picnic Independence National Historical Park 2

There is also a great opportunity to learn about American history and culture because  we will have the picnic right across the Independence National Historical Hall in the center city of Philadelphia. The Independence Hall is known as the birthplace of the United States. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were signed there. Our international Au Pair team will enjoy the historical Landmark and great company of friends.

Au Pairs will have fun sharing the experience, taking many photos and creating new memories. After the meeting, they will visit many historical places together.

The International Spring Festival 2017

It was a rainy, but nice day – perfect for attending the International Spring Festival! When I got to the gymnasium astonished! Not because it was enormous, but there was a lot of tables from different cultures – it was amazing!

Our au pair team made balloons and painted faces. I was one of the au pairs, who painted the faces. It was a great experience. There was a little boy, who wanted me to draw an explosion on his face, little girls mostly wanted to be cats, butterflies, but some of the kids asked for owls, sharks, tigers, rainbows on their faces. I was very exhausted by the time we finished, but I learnt a lot of things as well.18191168_10203135276180008_994789000_n

Polina (our LAR) posted on Facebook about the event, so I would like to quote from her:

“I found that Au pairs are very talented face painters. Many kids patiently waited in line for their turn. Many kids came back with their friends asking to make the same face painting for their friends and siblings. After we were done and put all stuff away, the kids continued coming and bringing their friends.”

I would like to say thank you for Polina again, that she made arrangements so we could go there volunteer and participate – make little children and their parents very happy! I believe, that everybody had fun there! If you did not have the chance to attend the festival, make sure you will have time for that next year! It is worth it! ♥

Volunteer! Feel good!

Our cluster is going to volunteer at the International Spring Festival in two weeks. I believe, that most of us will go and help – it is going to be fun! Now, I would like to write about volunteering and about my own experiences.

volunteer-logo-sized-to-6.9x3

Wikipedia  says, that volunteering is “an activity where an individual or group provides services for no financial gain, to benefit another person, group or organization”. Which is totally true! Just do it, because then others and of course you will feel awesome too! Psychologically, it is definitely better, when you do it in a group.

In my country everybody needs to volunteer 50 hours in order to get a diploma after high school.  I volunteered to work at a handicapped children’s home (children and grown-ups lived there, who were disabled to take care of themselves and their parents had taken them there for different reasons). I chose that place, because my mom has worked there before.

After my 50 hours were done, I stayed there for 3 months (of course still for free), as I was really enjoying the time with them and loved the little children who I worked with. I learnt a lots of things there, especially how to love and return love.volunteer

I believe, that everybody could say stories about volunteering. If not, that is not a problem either: you can volunteer simply when you help a friend, your parents, an elderly woman… Little things count!

I will be there at the Festival! Hope you will join us too! If not, then do not forget to read my post after the Festival to see what happened there! ♥

Buddy Appreciation Party 2017

Polina (our LAR), gave us her heart again with that party: she has planned everything, brought two cakes, games, her fantasy, and spent her time with us. I am very thankful for her! 17351994_10202971682050257_6449199535638883512_n

We had a balloon twisting competition, which was fun, because I have never done that before! We made different things and I had the chance to take balloons home for the kids- they loved them!

We had team games as well: we made two groups and had fun playing the games! Other au pairs and friends joined us too!17353565_10202971682810276_8706141647713160031_n

After the games, we ate cake and went to another room where we could play laser tag game! I enjoyed my time, as I have never done that before either, but I like playing those kind of games, so I hope, that I will have the chance to play again!

I like attending  the events and meetings, because then we can get together and experience how other people from different cultures react and behave! Interesting! 17361732_10202971680570220_5224967076863547971_n

I believe, that everybody had a good time! Next time, we are going to volunteer at the International Spring Festival! I am looking forward to meet you there! ♥

Christmas party 2016

Cold, foggy weather, snowy trees and roads. Nature is changing…It seems, that this is a winter-rest for them, like nothing happens inside of the trees, but actually everything is more active now…Anyway, I am always wondering about these things. I did the same, while I was driving to the restaurant, where we had our event. 15621737_1160060500779267_2117030716241552817_n

The village was beautiful, like in a fairty tale. It reminded me a bit of my home town…I loved walking around and enjoying everything around me

Polina (our LAR) gave  us her heart again. She organized this whole party with love and attention. I believe, that it is not only me who I am thankful for it. I enjoyed the time with the other au pairs: we played games and eat delicious food. We exchanged presents. I think everybody got something nice and gathered memories to remember.

Our cluster wishes everybody a merry Christmas and a happy New Year! I hope we will have fun next year too! ♥
